  • Strike a balance between productivity and intimacy. “Keeping arms around each other” is how Erika described what’s needed while continuing to get things done in virtual settings. The Cornerstone team shares songs, photographs, and memes—cultivating intimacy that goes beyond connectedness.

  • Give special attention to the ‘G’ in ESG investment analysis. Governance is “first among equals.” It’s code for leadership and accountability. Look for good governance—it’s where you’ll find companies making great decisions around social and environmental concerns and outperforming peers.

  • “Justice will not be served until… those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are.” Erika quoted Benjamin Franklin in saying capitalism remains the best system we know for driving prosperity, just not today’s extractive capitalism. She urged: Use your voice. Use your money. Be outraged but optimistic that we can make a difference.
